Hi there. My name is Scott Duffy, and welcome to my book writing log. I have documented the process of writing my last two books on this site, and have started my third. This book will be called Visual Studio Team System In Action, and should be available in 2005.

I should probably show my appreciation more to web pages that I find useful by linking to them:
Tim's 70-300 Links
There has been a nice spike at my JungleScan site. I got a nice email from someone who bought the book today. It's always good to know that you're not just writing for your own amusement.
The next book is still not done - I am seriously behind. I should be writing now, but I'm not. Well, now that I have shamed myself publicly, I will get back to it right now.

There's an interesting web site that will track the sales of books:
See how "How to Do Everything with JavaScript" is doing at JungleScan. I am very happy to report the sales rank is now in the 75,000 range. I'm very happy with that.

Chapter 7 ended up being very, very difficult to write (15,400 words). I basically had to stay up for 48 straight hours, more or less. I did manage to get two 1-hour naps in there, but still...
Now it's on to the last chapter. Chapter 8 -- application physical design. Turning the logical design model into a phyiscal design specification. I hope it's a lot easier to write than the last one.
On top of that, I have to write 81 multiple choice questions, as part of a quiz on the CD. I tried to outsource this work, but it didn't work out. That is a story to be told another day.

I purchased a book (which I have not really had time to read) on marketing, aimed at book authors like myself. One of the suggestions made was that authors should "purchase a lifetime supply" of their books. That is, your book will not be for sale on Amazon.com forever, so you had better purchase all the copies you will ever need now.
I really wish I could spend more time promoting my current book. Between my day job, writing this book, and now looking for a job, I just don't have the time. And the fact that I'm too easily distracted doesn't help either.
